What is LiverpoolABC?
LiverpoolABC is a members inter-trading facility that has been added to LiverpoolTenders.com. The ABC stands for Active Business Community and it allows you to post your own buying requirements to other members. As with the LiverpoolTenders function you will receive alerts by e-mail or SMS text message to let you know when an opportunity has been posted.
What is LiverpoolTenders?
LiverpoolTenders.com is a tender alert service operated by Liverpool Chamber of Commerce. Our aim is to simplify the way that small businesses access information on tendering - from finding actual opportunities to being in a position to tender by having the right skills and companies policies in place.
Small businesses throughout the UK often have difficulty accessing tendering opportunities, particularly from the public sector. Navigating the existing sources of tenders such as OJEU can be difficult, our Information department take some of the pressure out of finding those contracts in the public domain by searching on your behalf and alerting you when an opportunity arises.
Working with local authorities and increasingly private sector suppliers, Liverpool Chamber has developed LiverpoolTenders.com to ensure local businesses have easy access to information for local tenders. We also want to point you in the right direction for other support including;
• Policy development
• Awareness of and compliance with new and existing legislation
• Training programmes that will enhance your ability to tender.
Take a look at our links page for further information.
Is the Chamber involved in lobbying for SMEs on procurement issues?
Increasingly with the cost savings demanded by the Gershon Report the Public sector are buying in new ways. Framework agreements for example and centralising procurement opportunities are some methods that are being adopted. We are aware from listening to members that these have created difficulties for small businesses and in some cases mean small businesses are excluded from tendering mainly due to barriers such as cost and the short timeframes in which they have to respond to opportunities. This is an issue we have raised with our local MP Louise Ellman.
Liverpool Chamber is affiliated to British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) and we regularly survey members on procurement and other issues and make representation at local, regional and national government levels. You can view our consultations at www.merseyeconomy.org.uk. If you have any issues that you would like us to raise please contact the Policy Department on policy@liverpoolchamber.org.uk
